Only five minutes from the Paynesville waterfront (where dogs are welcome in cafes and on the beaches), the two cottages on this peaceful rural property overlook farmland and bush. Wandering echidnas stroll the property; boisterous rosellas, galahs and lorikeets - as well as twenty other bird species, come to feed during the day. Wallabies and wombats wander the bush metres away down the country lanes. You can walk down the lane, through the bush and along the lakeshore to the waterfront dog-welcoming cafes in Paynesville. YES!
Family
pets are welcome inside these pet-friendly cottages. The
cottage yards are completely fenced (for
Chihuahuas to Great Danes) and so are the acres of grassy paddocks where dogs
can run free and chase balls and frisbees. Dogs will also enjoy meandering down
the country lanes, strolling along the numerous pathways with you, swimming in
the rivers and lakes - and on the Ninety Mile Beach too. Take your dog with you
to breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's a five minute drive to waterfront eateries
where your dogs are also welcome! There are countless accessible tourist
attractions and shops, cafes, wine bars, pubs and excellent restaurants in
the immediate area. All
information about the cottages and the Lakes area, plus detailed maps to dog walks
& swims, tourism brochures, menus and so much more is contained in a huge
information kit -- on the table waiting for your arrival. Superb fishing spots
and boat ramps on the Silt Jetties, at Eagle Point & Paynesville jetties,
along the Mitchell River and in the Lakes are only two minutes from Merindah. Paynesville is a lakeside resort town surrounded by water and well-known as the "Boating Capital of Victoria". The numerous waterfront shops, cafes and restaurants overlook sandy beaches and grassed picnic areas on the water. Paved pathways, as well as bushwalks, mean you can stroll for kilometres along the lakes and rivers. Take the ferry 300 metres to Raymond Island and enjoy spying on the 500 koalas. Dogs - and humans too - just love walking the kilometres of sandy gravel roads on the island. Bairnsdale,
a 10-minute drive, is the main commercial centre for the Shire's rural community
of 40,000 people. As well as facilities comparable to those in any city shopping
centre, there are many craft & antique shops, galleries, parks, fine restaurants,
country pubs and cafes.
